Stage one - Inspection

Inspection - First steps taken upon receipt of an application.

Once an application form is received for a Definitive Map Modification Order, one of the County Council’s Definitive Map Officers will be assigned to investigate the case. The officer will then do the following.

Check

They will check that all the application documents have been completed correctly and that the landowner(s) has been served with a notice of the application.

Search

They will conduct a search at the Land Registry to make sure that the registered owners of the claimed route and the land immediately abutting it have been informed of the application.

Site visit

They will then conduct a site visit to look at the claimed route on the ground, taking photographs for our records and noting any salient features.
