What sort of things will the Local Access Forum do?
The Local Access Forum will:
- Comment on the Countryside Agency maps of open access land for Cambridgeshire
- Comment on the Rights of Way improvement plan to be produced for the County
- Advise the County Council and its partners on recreation and access strategies
- Advise the County Council and its partners on byelaws to prevent damage to open land
In addition, the Forum may wish to:
- Comment on access provision for new large scale developments
- Seek new opportunities to work with landowners in order to improve the countryside for open air recreation
- Seek new sources of funding to implement improvements
- Promote the work of the Forum and countryside issues to a wider audience
Cambridgeshire County Council will:
- Take the Forum's advice seriously.
- Fund a secretary and on-going support to the Forum.
- Provide officers and information for meetings when requested.
- Re-imburse Forum members for costs incurred for travel, childcare, occassional meals and other reasonable costs agreed in advance.
- Promote equality of opportunity for all applicants regardless of their economic circumstances, sex, age, disabilities, culture, ethnic background, language, religion or sexual orientation.
The Forum must take account of the interests of landowners and occupiers, users, wildlife and local businesses.
