On 1st April 2008, Cambridgeshire County Council designated two new Local Nature Reserves (LNRs):
Copies of the declarations can be viewed on the right-hand side.
Somersham LNR is part of a larger reserve that will be declared by Somersham Parish Council. We will be creating pages for each of these new sites shortly.
Under the National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act 1949 Cambridgeshire County Council has powers to declare a Local Nature Reserve on an area of land it owns or has an interest in.
LNRs are important for protecting wildlife and habitats, for informal enjoyment of nature by the public and for providing extra planning protection for the site.
