Sites for people and wildlife
Local Nature Reserves are places with wildlife or geological features that are of local special interest. They offer people opportunities to study or learn about nature or simply to enjoy it.
LNRs are normally greater than two hectares in size and are managed for people and wildlife. This management ensures that the LNR will continue to make an important contribution to local wildlife for future generations to enjoy.
A growing number of LNRs are managed by local community volunteer groups, 'Friends of' groups or Parish Councils, in conjunction with the local authority.
The County Council owns seven LNRs.
