Cambridgeshire's landscape
Extras
River Ouse

There is a wide range of landscapes in the county, including chalk and limestone grassland, wetlands, woodlands, and hedgerows, which are covered by a network of easily accessible routes.

As part of the Countryside Character Initiative, the landscape in Cambridgeshire has been divided into distinct character areas. There are 159 distinct character areas in England, defined according to their characteristic features, such as woodlands, hedgerows, moors, mountains and farmland, building styles, and historic artefacts.

More information on character areas is available from the links on the right including descriptions of the character areas of Cambridgeshire.
