Before the expansion of road traffic in the 1960s, there were several public houses to refresh the traveller along what is now the A14, past the Northstowe site.
Most have fallen victim to the construction of the dual carriageway, but the Trinity Foot remains to remind us of when the ‘Via Devana’ was a quieter road. The pub is named after a local hunt, another memory of quieter times.
The A14 is not to be recommended for walkers or riders, despite the number of footpaths and bridleways currently joining its line. It is to be hoped that the Highway Agency’s plans for further improvements may make better provision for those not behind the wheel of a car.
Other nearby attractions include the Via Devana itself and Boxworth village.
