Rights of Way Improvement Plan

The Rights of Way Improvement Plan (ROWIP) is a statutory responsibility imposed by the Countryside and Rights of Way (CROW) Act 2000.

The ROWIP was produced after two major consultations. The first resulted in a draft plan and the second helped shape the final plan. The final ROWIP can be viewed from this page.

The consultation responses helped prioritise the actions needed for the improvement and management of access to the countryside.
The Cambridgeshire Local Access Forum has been involved in the preparation of the ROWIP and the plan has been produced based on guidance issued by DEFRA.

The final ROWIP document was launched in 2006 and formed a constituent part of the Council's Local Transport Plan (LTP)2006 - 2011. A new LTP (LTP3) covering the period from 2011 to 2026 was adopted at a meeting of the full Council on March 29th 2011.
