Households
You can contact your district council for information on available grants to help make your house more energy-efficient.
Visit the Energy Saving Trust for help and advice on home energy savings, on everything from gas boilers and insulation to low energy lightbulbs. The Energy Saving Trust Anglia Advice Centre provides free impartial advice tailored specifically to homes in East Anglia, helping you to cut fuel bills and help reduce CO2 emissions which contribute to climate change.
Advice is also available from the National Energy Foundation website.
Using a 'carbon calculator' can give you an idea of how much carbon dioxide you produce. The one on the right is provided by Climate Care, who also give you the option to 'offset' your emissions by putting money into projects designed to reduce emissions or absorb carbon dioxide.
Business
The Carbon Trust provides free advice to business and public sector organisations to help with reducing energy use. Small businesses can also contact the Energy Saving Trust.
Schools
The UK Climate Change Programme (DETR Nov 2000) suggests that schools get advice on energy efficiency and new technologies from the Energy Savings Trust. The New Deal for Schools can provide funding for energy efficiency refurbishment plans.
