The County Council undertakes a variety of work related to Green Infrastructure in Cambridgeshire. Green Infrastructure is fundamental for a good quality of life whether it is in urban or rural areas. It can provide space for recreational activities, improve people's wellbeing and protect and enhance biodiversity and landscapes.
As part of our ongoing work to provide accessible greenspace the County council have designated eight Local Nature Reserves, which are managed in partnership with Friends Groups and other local community groups. You can find out more about these sites on our Local Nature Reserves pages.

A new Green Infrastructure Strategy
Back in 2006 Cambridgeshire Horizons and partners, including Cambridgeshire County Council, launched a Green Infrastructure Strategy that covered the Cambridge Sub-region. A new strategy has been completed in 2011 that covers the whole of Cambridgeshire which was endorsed by the County Council on the 25th October 2011. You can find out more about the new Strategy by going to the Cambridgeshire Horizons website.
