Do I need permission?

Disposing of waste

What developments need planning permission from Cambridgeshire County Council?

Few mineral or waste developments do not require planning consent. For instance, you will need planning permission to

  • extract and export minerals such as sand and gravel, clay or chalk
  • import minerals to a special railhead or port facility with ancillary buildings, plant and machinery
  • import, handle and/or deposit waste materials such as discarded top and sub soil from construction sites, commercial, industrial or household waste, or recycle materials for re-use

Be warned! If you are a landowner that allows unauthorised mineral extraction or waste handling or disposal to take place on your land without obtaining permission first, you may be forced to put things right later, which could prove very costly. Please check with us before proceeding.
