The FLOWS project at Lamb Drove, Cambourne
The Lamb Drove project is a unique, pioneering project the aim of which is to showcase how practical and innovative Sustainable Water Management Techniques or SuDs (Sustainable Drainage Systems) can be easily incorporated into new residential developments, and that they can be easy to maintain.
We intend to demonstrate that SuDs can be viable alternatives to more traditional forms of drainage and deliver practical solutions on how this can be achieved.
Lamb Drove comprises 35 dwellings on a 2.5-acre site. It is located on the southern side of Cambourne, a new settlement approximately 8 miles west of Cambridge. The site gently slopes from the west to lower ground in the east, and is bounded by a footpath and greenway to the north and a proposed golf course to the east.
A Best Practice Guide has been produced and can be downloaded from the FLOWS website(right).
The project was also commended in a Royal Town Planning Institute Award for climate change.
