Plans for development

The Council is responsible for preparing Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Minerals and Waste Development Plan which has been adopted by the County Council.

It forms part of the Development Plan for Cambridgeshire with the following documents:

• East of England Plan (until revoked by the Localism Act 2011)
• Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Structure Plan 2003 Saved Policies (until revoked by the Localism Act 2011)
• District Local Plans
• Neighbourhood Development Plans (if prepared by Parish/Town Councils or Community Forums)

There are also three Supplementary Planning Documents which have been adopted by the County Council related to the Minerals and Waste Plan:

• Block Fen/Langwood Fen Masterplan to support the delivery of the minerals and waste allocations identified in the Minerals and Waste Plan.
• Location and Design of Waste Management Facilities to ensure that high quality waste management facilities in relation to design and operation are developed.
• RECAP Waste Management Design Guide to ensure that waste management facilities are provided as part of new developments.

The County Council also produces a number of monitoring publications relating to the delivery of development in Cambridgeshire which are used by the District Councils to inform the preparation of their Local Plans.

The Council as Lead Local Flood Authority is also responsible for the preparation of a Flood Risk Management Strategy for Cambridgeshire and Surface Water Management Plans.
