Planning policies and strategies

Cambridgeshire County Council have to produce

  • Policies (plan of action), and;
  • Strategies (planning and directing the process)

for development in Cambridgeshire.

These are in line with national guidelines set down by the Government (Department for Communities and Local Government DCLG) and Regional Government.

These policies are brought together in a number of plans.

  • The Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Structure Plan
    This sets out the strategy, policies and proposals for land-use and transport up until 2016
  • Waste Local Plan
  • Minerals Local Plan
  • District Local Plans

The Minerals and Waste Local Plans have largely been superseded by a new Minerals and Waste Core Strategy

Policies and Strategies set out in the Structure Plan are examined in greater details in the Districts Local Plans

We monitor the policies and strategies of the Structure Plan which feeds to both the Regional Planning Body and District Councils.
