District local plans/Local development frameworks
Detailed plans, including policies and sites for development in towns and villages, are prepared by the District Councils in Cambridgeshire.
Most local plans are prepared by the district councils to set out detailed policies for the use of land – either in general terms or on individual sites.
New Plans
Under the Government’s new planning legislation, a new type of local plan – renamed Local Development Frameworks (LDFs) or Local Development Documents (LDDs)– will replace the older local plans, but their basic purpose is the same: to provide guidance on the use of land and the criteria upon which to decide planning applications for development.
Some local plans are, however, the responsibility of the County Council, and in Cambridgeshire, this applies to the Minerals and Waste LDF.
