Publications of renewable energy statistics following the annual development survey at 31 March 2011 can be seen in the documents below
Renewable energy can be defined as energy generated from natural resources, such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides and geothermal heat, which are renewable (naturally replenished). The data tables split it into types – wind, biomass (from plant or animal matter), landfill gas, sewage gas, photovoltaic (from the sun) and hydropower.
- Only 0.718 MW (megawatts) of renewable energy capacity was installed in 2010-2011, compared to 16.545 MW the previous year.
- The total amount of installed renewable energy in Cambridgeshire at 31st March 2011 was 168.151 MW.
- There were a total of 86 wind turbines operating in Cambridgeshire at 31st March 2011 producing 68% of Cambridgeshire’s renewable energy.
- At 31st March 2011, a further 72.994 MW had planning permission, almost double the previous years figure.
