The Cambridge Airport Study
This study looks at the potential for re-location of the airport to allow new housing and other development for Cambridge.
Cambridge Airport, the home of Marshall Aerospace, is a large site on the edge of Cambridge, and is a location for major growth proposed in the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Structure Plan.
The airport and the engineering works would like to make the land available for new housing and other uses and therefore, in 2002, a study was carried out to assess the potential for moving and possible alternative locations.
You can see the study working papers on the current operation of the airport (Stage 1) and evaluation of alternative options for re-location (Stage 2) by using the links on this page.
The files with the pictures/maps are large and may take some time to download. For convenience, versions without the graphics are also available.
The Marshall Company is continuing to work for an acceptable solution, to enable a new, sustainable, extension to the City by 2016.
