In February 2003 the Deputy Prime Minister announced the publication of “Sustainable Communities: Building for the Future”, which is commonly known as the Sustainable Communities Plan.

This document, together with the accompanying regional documents, sets out the Government’s programme for action to address the lack of affordable housing, demand for housing and to make better use of previously developed land etc.

The London - Stansted - Cambridge - Peterborough area is one of the growth areas in the Plan, which is now the resposibility of the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG). Follow the Link on the right for more details.
