The Environment Strategy and Action Plan (ESAP) sets out the Council's objectives and actions for achieving a healthy and sustainable environment.

The first strategy was introduced in 2002 and a revised document is planned to be launched in summer 2008.

ESAP is divided into two sections:

• the main strategy document - approved and adopted by Cabinet in February 2002
• the action plan - a set of actions reviewed and updated annually.
