The Landfill Communities Fund helps benefit the lives of people who live close to landfill sites by awarding grants for environmental, heritage and community projects.
You can apply for funding for projects within ten miles of licensed landfill sites. Here is a quick guide to what is available from the operators of the three landfills that council-collected waste goes to. Full details can be found on the WREN and Cambridgeshire Community Foundation websites.
AmeyCespa Community Fund
You can apply for up to £20,000 for projects costing up to £150,000, or up to £40,000 for projects costing over £150,000. The grants fund can be used to improve public spaces, for the conservation of species or habitats, or to repair, maintain or restore a place of worship or a place of architectural importance.
WREN - Small Grant Scheme
Funding applications between £2,000 and £15,000 will be considered if the total project cost is under £50,000 and the project will be complete within 12 months of the funding decision.
WREN - Main Grant Scheme
This offers funding of between £15,001 and £50,000 to projects relating to public parks, biodiversity conservation or buildings of special interest.
WREN - Biodiversity Action Fund
Funding of between £75,000 and £250,000 is available to deliver biodiversity improvement projects to Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP) listed habitats within ten miles of any licensed landfill in Cambridgeshire.
Cambridgeshire Community Foundation distributes money from the AmeyCespa Community Fund, and Waste Recycling Environmental Limited (WREN) distributes funds on behalf of Waste Recycling Group (WRG). Other landfill operators' funding distributors can be found using the ENTRUST funders’ directory.
