How to dispose of trade waste

Businesses have a legal obligation to dispose of their waste responsibly. Certain waste types need special care. Please see the legal responsibility and hazardous waste pages on the left for further information.

District councils

District councils are obliged to provide a chargeable collection service if requested. If you have any questions in relation to the collection of trade waste please contact your district council.

Private contractors

Private contractors provide a range of waste management services including:

  • Waste disposal
  • Recycling
  • Waste transfer
  • Waste collection 
  • Skip hire

Sell it or give it away

Take it to be disposed of

The Environment Agency has a list of landfill sites and other waste facilities to which you can take your trade waste. You can contact the Environment Agency on 08708 506 506.  Or, search the NetRegs waste directory.

Dispose of it on your land

Even if carried out on your own land, activities such as burning or burying waste or spreading manure require environmental permit exemptions or regulations to be followed.
