Hazardous waste includes common household products that could be harmful to human health or to the environment, such as bleach, paint stripper, pesticides, engine oil, electrical items and gas bottles.
Most hazardous waste from your home can be taken to your local recycling centre. When you arrive at the recycling centre, please ask a member of staff for help. If in doubt phone your recycling centre before bringing your waste.
The pages on the left explain what to do with the most common hazardous items which cannot be disposed of at your recycling centre.
