Frequently asked questions

Can site staff sell items that are left at the recycling centres?

The contractors who operate all our recycling centres have salvage rights over any waste that is deposited at these sites. This income is put towards the day to day running costs of the centre which means costs are kept down for the County Council and council taxpayers.

How can I make the most of my recycling centre visit?

  • Separate your waste before you go - it saves you time and helps us recycle more of your rubbish
  • Recycling centres can be busy at weekends and bank holidays and you may have to queue. If possible try to visit the site during weekdays when it's less busy
  • There may be a short delay at some sites whilst we exchange skips. Please bear with us while the site is closed - it's for your own safety
  • If you wish to bring your waste using a van or trailer, please contact the recycling centre in advance as you may not be allowed on-site during busy periods
