Cambridge is an international focus for high-tech and knowledge-based industries within easy reach of London, Stansted and Felixstowe, and one of the principal focuses for growth in the UK.

The Structure Plan Strategy for the Cambridge Sub-region sets out a vision for sustainable development including:

• the provision of 47,500 new homes by 2016 and
• £2.2 billion of infrastructure needed to support its development.
