Frequently Asked Questions

Question:

How can I recycle cooking oil?

Answer:

You can now recycle cooking oil at Cambridgeshire’s Recycling Centres!
Please bring the oil in a sealed container to your local recycling centre following the instructions below:

Things You’ll Need:
Plastic jars/containers with a screw top

Step 1
Allow the oil to cool completely before disposing of it.

Step 2
Decide whether the oil needs to be discarded. Oil used for deep-frying can usually be reused several times. Strain it into a clean sealable container.

Step 3
To dispose of it at one Cambridgeshire’s recycling centres, carefully pour it into a strong sealable container, such as an old plastic jar or bottle with a lid using a funnel if needed. Many households save jars/bottles for this purpose. Plastic jars/bottles are better than breakable glass ones.

Step 4
Once at the recycling centre, carefully pour the oil in to the specially design container.
Keep your container for future use or recycle at the centre if facilities are available.

Don't mix it with anything else (paint, solvents, etc.).
