An overview of waste in Cambridgeshire

Cambridgeshire County Council's Waste Management Team are here to provide a service to everybody within Cambridgeshire.

Everybody generates waste, whether at home or work, and need to dispose of it safely.

Waste can be any material that people want to discard, if they no longer have a use for it.

Households in Cambridgeshire generate approximately 280 thousand tonnes of waste a year.

The management, disposal and reduction of waste has improved over recent years due to more effective legislation and regulation. The Government use the law to set targets and controls to achieve higher standards of waste management.

As well as the Government, the Environment Agency help to monitor and regulate the waste industry.
