The Recycling and Waste Education Centre at Buckden Landfill Site
What is it?
The Centre is designed to encourage schools and other groups to learn about sustainable living especially waste management.
Who is it for?
The Centre is open by prior arrangement to organised group visits (including schools' Key Stages 1, 2 and 3 and 'A' level.)
Who is it run by?
It is run by the education staff of Wildlife Trust of Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire in co-operation with Antiwaste Ltd, part of the Waste Recycling Group (WRG).
How is it funded?
Cambridgeshire County Council, Waste Recycling Environmental (WREN) and Huntingdonshire District Council work together with the above groups to fund this initiative.
What do they do?
Activities are flexible and can be adjusted to suit timescale and numbers attending.
They can include:
Monitoring the amount of incoming waste
Looking at diminishing stocks of raw materials needed for the manufacture of everyday items using the interactive board
A visit to the landfill area

How do I get there?
Buckden Recycling and Waste Education Centre is on the landfill site whose entrance is on the Brampton to Buckden road, just north of where it joins the A1.
NB. For local Huntingdonshire schools, the Wildlife Trust can collect 15 students and one adult from school and transport them free to and from the centre by minibus
How much will it cost
There is a standard charge of £1.50 per pupil for the visit for all primary schools.
There is a nominal charge for other groups depending on size- please contact Centre.
