Buckden recycling centre closure

User of Buckden HWRC

Buckden Recycling Centre closed to the public on October 31st 2008.  Waste can be taken to the nearby recycling centres at Alconbury, St Neots or Bluntisham.

At the last budget round it was determined that this site, which has the most expensive management fee in the county, would close when the contract expired.

Instead of recycling centres positioned where there are landfill sites, Cambridgeshire will have a network of recycling centres spread across it. The vast majority of residents will be able to reach a recycling centre within 15 minutes. These will all be managed by one private contractor.

Huntingdonshire District Council (HDC) has an excellent kerbside recycling service and you may wish to use this more, particularly for garden waste, rather than taking it to one of the recycling centres. You may request an additional wheeled bin from HDC for dry recycling. A bulky household waste collection service is also available, for which a fee is charged.

Alternatively, your nearest Recycling Point can be found using the Recycle More bank locator link on the right hand side. For re-usable items, please see the links on the right hand side for other possible ways to get rid of your waste.
