Car Parts
Extras

For information on car parts you can take to the Recycling Centres please see the link to the Recycling Centre policy on vehicle parts.

Car parts from your own car can only be accepted at the Recycling Centres; you are advised to contact the site in advance to confirm whether they will be able to accept your waste.

What should I do with them?

1. Recycling Centres
Recycling Centres are not licensed for the disposal of whole motor vehicles. In addition, with the introduction of the End of Life Vehicles Regulations 2003, end of life vehicles can only be stored and treated in accordance with tightened environmental treatment standards.

Vehicle parts not accepted:

  • Vehicle tyres.
  • Any vehicle parts that contain any fluids.

The only fluid from a motor vehicle that the site is licensed to accept is engine oil. The site management's decision is final.

2. District Councils
Your District/City Council may have facilities to collect car parts.

District/City Councils also deal with abandoned vehicles.

3. Private contractors
You may need to contact the company directly to find out if they deal with this kind of waste.
