New waste transfer station for March
Extras
Drawings of proposed waste transfer station

A planning application has been approved for a waste transfer station located in March.

Cambridgeshire County Council is to build a new waste transfer station on the Trading Park Industrial Estate in March.  This facility will greatly improve recycling in Fenland.

The waste transfer station will take rubbish and recycling from Fenland residents' bin collections.  It will be collected here before it is transported on to Waterbeach for processing.

This work is currently carried out at Wisbech Waste Transfer Station. The new transfer station will bring this operation closer to Fenland District Council's Depot in March, reducing travel time and emissions from council vehicles travelling to Wisbech from March.

Building work should start in January 2009 and the site will open in September 2009.
