What should I do with it?
Asbestos is not accepted at Household Waste Recycling Centres
It must only be handled by sites and carriers with the appropriate licences. It is YOUR responsibility to ensure the contractor you use is properly licensed. For more information on these licences please contact the Environment Agency.
It is important to avoid releasing asbestos dust into the air to minimise the risk to anyone who may come into contact with it. DO NOT BREAK IT UP!
What should I do with it now?
1. Disposal via the council
If you have Cement Bonded Asbestos, your district council will provide, upon request, a special bag for you to take to Alconbury, Wisbech, Waterbeach Waste Management Sites run by Donarbon Ltd.
You will need to visit your local District Council Office with proof of residency e.g. council tax bill. This service is for small scale DIY projects and therefore there is a restriction on the number of bags you can claim for.
For full details contact your District Council
Please ensure that the correct precautions are taken when handling asbestos. For further information please click on links on the right.
For large quantities or for Blue or Brown Asbestos the following apply:
