We aim to provide services which are open to all.

For those people needing to access our services and whose first language is not English, a range of facilities is provided.

Please note all interpreters are bound by a code of confidentiality and work to a code of conduct agreed by the County Council.

Translation Services

Documents produced by the Council can be translated into any language on request. Cambridgeshire County Council has a contract with CINTRA in Cambridge to provide written translations within 10 working days.

Interpreter Services

Cambridgeshire County Council has a contract with CINTRA to provide face to face interpreting services to work with clients whose first language is not English. CINTRA will provide an interpreter for 98% of requests where the request is made over 24 hours in advance.

British Sign Language (BSL)

Where a BSL Interpreter is required in order to allow a deaf person to access the services of the Council, this can be arranged.

Braille

Documents can be printed in Braille on request.  DotSix are our preferred provider for these services. They can transcribe material into clearer/larger print, standard Braille, audiocassette, computer disc or CD-rom.

If you have a visual impairment

Material can be transcribed into clearer/larger print, standard Braille, audiocassette, computer disc or CD-rom.
