Accessibility policy

It is the policy of Cambridgeshire County Council to ensure that all web based information and services are widely accessible, regardless of disability, language, level of literacy or technology.

Wherever possible, Cambridgeshire County Council will make reasonable adjustments to ensure that information and services provided by our website can be accessed by, and are equally effective to, all users irrespective of personal circumstance.

Cambridgeshire County Council strives to ensure that all information and web services adhere to the following principles and accessibility standards:

  • Priority checkpoints as defined by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI), Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)1.0 and 2.0.
  • Content conforms to “AA” standard by satisfying all the priority checkpoints of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.
  • General responsibilities under UK law, including the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) (1995/2005).
  • Mark-up for the website conforms to the XHTML 1.0 transitional standard.

To support this policy, service Web Editors and Publishers of the Content Management System are subject to our internal accessibility standards and guidelines, with respect to creating pages and publishing content.

Each service is individually responsible for ensuring their pages comply with these standards, but are also monitored centrally to ensure consistency.

The Council is committed to ensuring the best possible user experience and values all feedback we receive from visitors to the website; helping us to continually develop and improve upon the information and services we provide.
