All services with content on the web site are responsible for updating and maintaining the information. Within each service there are dedicated authors and approvers (editors).
Role of the author
An author is responsible for creating new, editing existing or deleting out of date web pages. Once the the pages are completed by the author within the author workflow process, they are flagged to an approver (editor) to approve. Only those with specific permissions to approve pages will receive the web page.
Role of the approver (editor)
The role of the approver (editor) is to thoroughly check the appropriateness of the page, the content within the page and that the page fits the corporate styling. They are also responsible for ensuring that all metadata has been tagged so that it can be correctly listed by search engines.
Once the approver is satisfied that the content is accurate and appropriate they can approve the page in order that it appears on the website. Approvers have more responsbile levels of access to the Content Management System (CMS) and it is the approver's responsibility of the page once it is live.
Role of the Web Strategy Team
The Web Strategy Team is responsible for managing and overseeing all content on the web site and has the appropriate permissions to change web pages if necessary.
The team implements the standards and provides these to authors to help them maintain their web pages. The team will contact authors and editors should pages not follow the standards to provide helpful advice.
Training is provided by the Web Strategy Team on writing effective web pages and "hands on training" adding content.
