Volunteering for the Council

The Council’s values the contribution that volunteers make to it’s work.

Involving volunteers can improve our engagement with and understanding of the communities that we serve. As a volunteer you can also offer a fresh perspective on how the Council works.

There are a range of reasons you may want to volunteer for the Council. Volunteering can improve your employment prospects and help you to gaining new skills, knowledge and experience.

Volunteering can increase your self esteem, gives you a chance to meet new people and to get to know your local community. Volunteering is an opportunity for you to make a difference to the lives of others and the community that you live in.

Many of the Council’s volunteering opportunities are advertised by the volunteer centres which use Do-it, the national volunteering website to list current volunteering roles.
