Job Purpose
- Work at a high level in a range of placements across the organisation, undertaking specific project work or operational delivery for the host department, developing key skills and building organisational understanding. (Please see graduate profiles for examples)
- Represent the Council both internally and externally, to develop and maintain an understanding and awareness of relevant initiatives and challenges facing local government.
- Undertake training in a relevant professional qualification.
- Build strong professional relationships within the Council to improve cross-office understanding and partnership working
- Demonstrate commitment to continuous personal and professional development through active participation in graduate development events and by exploring placement and employment opportunities.

- The targets against which trainees will be held accountable at appraisal time are those specified for individual placements.
What you should expect:
- Consult with graduate trainees to provide a wide ranging and challenging mix of placements involving areas of significance to the Council to ensure continuous professional development
- Communicate a clear vision of what a Management Trainee should achieve, and to provide the support and guidance necessary to achieve this.
- Offer a set of core training opportunities to ensure graduates across all schemes have the necessary skills to advance to senior management.
- Provide a talent management programme to give support and guidance after the scheme, ensuring graduate trainees continue to develop and progress through their chosen career path.
