The County Council with over 15,000 employees is a place where you can normally find other people with similar interests to yourself, whether it be reading, biking, walking or skydiving.  Within the Council there are both formal and informal ways in which you can meet people and get involved in a wide ranging degree of activities.

Council Social Club

The County Council has its very own social club that organises a calendar of events every year for all employees, family and friends. Below gives you an example of events that are run:

· Trips to the theatre
· Rounders evenings
· Quiz nights
· Golf days
· Trips to the dog show

Life long learning Partnership

This partnership is between the County Council and Unison (trade union). It provides courses for all employees that are not necessarily related directly to work. Some are run through lunchtime, while others are run directly after work. Examples of courses that have been run:

· Languages (French, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese)
· Salsa
· Watercolour
· Music lessons and choir

Informal social activities

There are numerous things that take place informally around the Council and would take a long time to go through. You will find different activities take place dependent on where in the organisation you work. What you will find immediately is a strong graduate network to tap into. They organise a number of different things and involve everyone that wants. Examples of things that have been organised previously:

· Greyhound racing
· Bingo
· Football against other County Councils
· Christmas meals
· Trips to London
