Our historic environment bears evidence of 500,000 years of human activity - ancient sites, monuments and landscapes, historic towns, villages and buildings, ancient features and finds.
Archaeology is the discovery, study and understanding of this evidence.
We work in partnership with others to protect and enhance Cambridgeshire's historic environment, to promote
- sustainable growth,
- access,
- active citizenship,
- lifelong learning, and
- a sense of place for communities.
We provide
- advice and information on the archaeology and historic environment
- outreach and learning opportunities for schools and communities.
Cambridgeshire Archaeology are delighted to launch its 2012 public events programme, drawing together the county council and other premier providers of heritage experiences across the county. Download the events programme leaflet from the bottom of the page.
This year we are concentrating on what makes Cambridgeshire’s heritage so special and the stories that it can tell. We have teamed up with the BBC for the Great Cambridgeshire Story, part of their Great British Story: A People’s History.
