About us

Our aim is to identify, collect, preserve and actively promote the use of historical records relating to Cambridgeshire, including the former counties of Huntingdonshire and the Isle of Ely.

The archives in our care come in all shapes and sizes, from parchment to paper, from maps to microfiche, and from photographs to CD roms. Our expert staff will help you to consult original historical documents, microform copies, transcripts, and other sources of historical information.

The Archives and Local Studies Service comprises eight teams:

  • Cambridgeshire Archives based in  Cambridge for Cambridgeshire archive records 
  • Huntingdonshire Archives based in Huntingdon for Huntingdonshire archive records
  • The Cambridgeshire Collection, based in Cambridge, for southern Cambridgeshire local studies
  • The Huntingdonshire Collection, based in Huntingdon, for Huntingdonshire local studies
  • The Fenland Collection, based in Wisbech, for Fenland local studies
  • County Council Records Team
  • Document Conservation Unit
  • The FSB Scanning Bureau, for document digitisation
