3: Repackaging the collections
The parish records held by Huntingdonshire Archives date back as early as the 15th century and are often very fragile. Thanks to funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund for A2A and to the Huntingdonshire Family History Society, we are able to store the parish records in brand-new, acid-free boxes and folders, ensuring the future of both volumes and documents for the next few hundred years.
Much of this repacking and renumbering work has been undertaken by members of the Huntingdonshire Family History Society and other volunteers. The Archives Service is grateful to our volunteer team for all the time and hard work they are putting into the project.
