Temporary policy on new acquisitions
Cambridgeshire and Huntingdonshire Archives both need to devote as much time and resource as possible to the preparations for the Big Move. Both Record Offices are also running short of dedicated archive storage space in their current buildings.
Regrettably, we are currently unable to accept new donations or deposits of historical records, unless the records are at risk of destruction.
Wherever possible we wish to postpone such donations or deposits until we have completed the move into our new buildings.
Please contact us for advice on how to preserve documents in the meantime. A brief leaflet on How to look after documents at home is available online, by clicking the link in the righthand column. In extreme circumstances Archives Service staff may be able to visit to advise on document preservation, or to survey the records with the ultimate aim of acquisition after our move.
