Although family historians can carry out an increasing amount of research on-line, most will find they need to visit a record office in order to consult parish registers and other local historic records.
Records
We have a wide range of records, some more familiar than others, which can help you build up information about your ancestors. Follow the links in the left hand column for details about some of the most useful sources at Cambridgeshire and Huntingdonshire Archives.
Research service
If you are unable to travel to our offices or would like our staff to assist with your research, we offer an Historical Research Service. Details, and an on-line application form, are available by clicking on the link in the right-hand column.
Births, marriages and deaths
Copies of birth, marriage and death certificates for the local area can be purchased from Cambridgeshire Registration Service. CAMDEX is an on-going project to create an on-line index of local records of civil registration. To begin your search, click on the link in the right-hand column.
Other help
Other organisations, including local history societies and family history societies, can also give you advice on your research. Please follow the links in the right hand column.
