If you are a family historian you can visit a record office in order to consult parish registers and other local historic records.
Records
We have a wide range of records, some more familiar than others, which can help you build up information about your ancestors. You can search CALM online catalogue or follow the links on the left hand side, for details about some of the most useful family history sources at Cambridgeshire and Huntingdonshire Archives.
Research service
If you are unable to travel to our offices or would like our staff to assist with your research, we offer an Historical Research Service.
Births, marriages and deaths
Copies of birth, marriage and death certificates for the local area can be purchased from Cambridgeshire Registration Service.
CAMDEX is an online index of local records of civil registration. It is free to browse and also allows you to buy the certificates online.
You can also see a list of Cambridgeshire registration districts and their constituent parishes.
Other help
Other organisations, including local history societies and family history societies, can also give you advice on your research. Please follow the links in the right hand side for more information.
Genuki, the UK and Ireland Genealogical Information Service, aims to serve as a virtual reference library of genealogical information that is of particular relevance to the UK and Ireland.
It is a noncommercial service, provided by an ever-growing group of volunteers in cooperation with the Federation of Family History Societies and a number of its member societies.
