Ceramic project based on local observations in Cromwell’s House and Ely Cathedral using relief and indenting techniques.
Local artist Stephen Murfitt worked in the centre for young people with long term illness. The young people attend Education Alternatives until they are able to return to mainstream education.
Each student made their own coiled pot, and embellished it with pictorial elements from their observational visits. They then moved on to create of a number of relief tiles which depicted the local landscape.
These tiles now form a lasting frieze to welcome future students and visitors to the Green Box, Education Alternatives’ accommodation.
