Frequently Asked Questions

Question:

Do you stock children's books in languages other than English?

Answer:

The JFL collection of picture books and storybooks brings together stories for children whose first language is not English. Many of the books are ‘dual language’, with the text also in English.

We have books in a wide variety of languages including - Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, French, German, Gujarati, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Portuguese, Punjabi, Russian, Spanish, Turkish and Urdu. Please ask a member of staff for a list of which titles are available in each language and which libraries have copies of them

Or you can search our catalogue to find out which books we have in a particular language. Simply select ‘class number’ from the words and phrases drop down box, then type JFL in the search box followed by the first three letters of the language eg. JFL FRE for French or JFL BEN for Bengali
