Visits to the library can be organised for both pre-school and school age children
In certain circumstances, children’s librarians will also visit early years groups and schools
Organisers can either visit the local library, who will contact the relevant Children's Services Librarian, or they can contact one of the librarians direct:

Please note the following:
- we require a minimum of 4 weeks notice for a visit
- where possible visits are timetabled for 'closed' library sessions to avoid noise and distractions
- we recommend a minimum of 45 minutes per class and prefer no more than 35 children in each group
- you will receive written confirmation of the visit timetable once it is agreed and all children are issued with a letter addressed to their parents notifying them of a forthcoming visit to the library
- children are permitted to borrow books during these sessions and membership application cards may be distributed in advance of the visit
- teachers are invited to complete a ‘Class Visit Evaluation Form’ at the end of the session
- children often complete ‘Tell Us’ comments and suggestions forms following a class visit
