Question:
What is a Library Access Point?
Answer:
Library Access Points (LAPs) are libraries staffed by volunteers and offer access to most of the services of Cambridgeshire Libraries
Library Access Points are open for a minimum of 6 hours a week, with limited facilities
The Library Service provides 1000 books, essentially adult fiction paperbacks and junior fiction and operates regular exchanges. Most LAPs supplement this provision with their own stock
LAPs have access to a version of 'Unicorn', our computerised catalogue and issue system, to enable customer access for renewing and requesting items
The LAP offers a permanent presence in the community, with internet access and study space. They are a community facility and may offer other services of their choosing
In most communities there is also a complementary mobile library service which carries a good range of large print, talking books and a range of non fiction
