Newspapers in libraries
Central Library Cambridge
- most national newspaper titles, daily and weekly
- most titles local to the area
Hub libraries (Ely, Huntingdon, March, St Ives, St Neots, and Wisbech)
- at least one national paper
- at least one title local to the area
Community libraries take the local weekly paper and the jobs edition of the local daily paper.
The archives of some major newspapers are held in libraries on microfiche, microfilm, CD-ROM or on line.
Journals, magazines and periodicals
We take vocational and specialist periodical titles with an emphasis on providing titles that carry job vacancies or have an ongoing reference value.
Some titles are circulated to several libraries in turn.
Back issues are available for most titles. The extent of the back file depends on the nature of the title. The major back collections are held at Central Library Cambridge.
Local publications are held in the local history sections of the larger libraries.

The Guardian and the Observer - fully searchable database of the Guardian (1821-2003) and the Observer (1791-2003)
Times Digital Archive -searchable database of the full text of the entire newspaper from 1785-1985, including articles, images, editorials, and advertising
UK Newsstand (formerly News UK) - fully searchable database of 182 local, national and regional newspapers

Online periodicals
The library service subscribes to InfoTrac UK Journals, a fully searchable database of 50 UK journals with an archive extending to January 1991.
