The service is available at all Cambridgeshire County Council libraries, and offers free access to all the lending book stock held in the Cambridgeshire Libraries network. The loan period is four months. Books are issued to the secretary of the group, or appointed person, who is responsible for their distribution and return to the library.
The service is available to any WEA, U3A, or other organised group providing local life long learning opportunities.
How the service works
1. On the application of the secretary or other appointed person, the group is registered at the most convenient library. The appointed person receives the group's library card and PIN
2. The appointed person can then use the group's library card to borrow books and make requests
3. Loans are for four months, and are subject to recall if required by another reader. Up to thirty items may be borrowed at any time
4. There are no overdue charges, but while overdue items remain on the record, further loans will not be permitted. Lost books will be charged for
5. Requests can be made using the group's library card and PIN, either by using a library terminal or by accessing the library catalogue over the Internet
6. Up to 30 requests can be submitted at any time. No request charge will be levied
7. This service is designed to supply a range of titles for background reading, not to provide multiple copies of texts for study. A separate request scheme is available for reading groups
8. The group's library card must be used for the group's loans and requests only
9. Other than as stated above, the library's normal terms and conditions apply
10. This facility is only available for books held in the lending stock of Cambridgeshire Libraries and Information service
