Question:

What documents do I need to join the library?

Answer:

To join the library you will need to show us some proof of your identity - please take this with you to the library on your first visit, even if you have joined online or by telephone:  

- Full library membership
please provide 2 separate documents, one proving your signature and the other your name and address  

- Introductory membership
please provide a document proving either your signature or your name and address  

- Under 16s
you may join as introductory members if you have some identification, for full membership we need the signature of a parent or guardian who can themselves supply documents proving both signature and address Documents accepted

The documents we accept for proof of identity include:  

- Name and address
driving licence*, council tax payment book, medical card, official rent book, pension book, post office savings book, recent bank statement, welfare benefits book, recent receipted bill for gas, electricity etc  

- Name and signature
credit/bank card passport valid bus pass ID card with photograph and signature  

* If you have a new photocard driving licence this can be accepted as a single full proof of identity
