Exhibition: The Headless Horseman

A series of prints published in the 1650s were manipulated to show different riders of the same horse. This exhibition will show how images were manipulated in a pre-digital age.



15 February 2012, 11.00am - 3.00pm

Event: Family drop-in event

Opportunities for craft and art activities for families and young children. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

This event will be held at Huntingdon Library and Archives, Princes Street, Huntingdon. Admission is free but there is a suggested donation of £1.50 per child.



12 May - 3 November 2012

Exhibition: Perfumes for the Protector

One of the treasures of the Cromwell Museum is a 17th century Florentine cabinet that has been passed down through the Cromwell family. The full significance of the cabinet, who gave it and what it contains, will be explained.



9 June 2012, 10.30am - 12.30pm

Event: Archaeology Identification Session

Experts from the County Council Archaeology Service will be on hand to identify and record your finds.



21 July 2012, 10.30am - 12.30pm

Event: Soaps and Smells

A costumed re-enactor will demonstrate how soaps were made in the 17th century. See below for similar events in the afternoon.



21 July 2012, 1.30pm - 2.30pm and 3.00pm - 4.00pm

Event: Making your own soaps

A costumed re-enactor will lead two workshops where you can make your own soap balls and take them home with you. Each workshop is limited to 20 places so booking is advised.

This event will be held at Huntingdon Library and Archives, Princes Street, Huntingdon. There is a charge of £2.50 per person.



22 September 2012, 7.30pm

Event: Fifty years on - a celebration concert

The Huntingdon Male Voice Choir, along with the Cromwell Museum, celebrates their fiftieth anniversary this year and will be performing a mixed programme, interspersed with readings, to mark the Museum's golden jubilee.

This event will be held at All Saints Church, Huntingdon. Tickets are £8.



20 October 2012, 10.30am - 4.00pm

Event: Fifty Years - join us to celebrate the Museum's birthday

The Cromwell Museum opened on the 19 October 1962 and since then has welcomed almost half a million visitors. A day of events and activities is planned at the Museum to mark the anniversary.



6 November 2012 - 27 January 2013

Exhibition: Stiletto heels be not allowed

The Cromwell Museum celebrates its 50th anniversary this autumn. This is an opportunity to re-appraise what we know and what has been achieved since 1962.



7 November 2012, 7.30pm

Event: 2012 Cromwell Lecture - "Facts, Lies and Stereotypes"

John Goldsmith, the Curator of the Museum, will look at the collections of the Museum and how much we know about them.

This event will be held at Huntingdon, Library and Archives, Princes Street, Huntingdon. Tickets are £3.

Please note: All ages are welcome at Cromwell Museum events, but children under 10 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
