There is no statutory level of museum provision or entitlement in the UK which has led to wide variations of service across the country.
Cambridgeshire County Council provides a Museums Development Officer who will provide professional support and guidance to museums across Cambridgeshire.
This work is normally focused on independent and volunteer run museums. The Museums Development Officer will work with museums on the ground to help them access funding, training and generally support their ongoing development.
The Museum Development Officers works in close partnership with Cambridgeshire Museums Advisory Partnership to improve museum services and provision across the County.
