Animal diseases

Animal diseases can have a serious impact on human health and the environment we live in. It can affect areas such as livestock, food industry, the economy and tourism. With the increase of climate change animal health emergencies are going to increasingly affect the Cambridgeshire’s farming community and UK economy as a whole.

Under the Animal Health Act, the council (Trading Standards Service) has a responsibility to lead on animal health emergencies. We work closely with the Department for Environment, Health and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) to ensure that our response is coordinated to successfully control and overcome any outbreaks.
